Abstract
In this paper, science education research trends in Nigeria are discussed. A total of 512 articles of the Journal of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (JSTAM) and 586 articles from STAN conference proceedings were reviewed
(i) Effort is put into researches on important learning and teaching variables.
(ii) There is a growing concern for psychological studies and;
(iii) Emphasis is being placed on affective studies.
The implications of the findings for science education in Nigeria are also discussed. Further work aimed at utilising inferential statistical analysis in establishing relationships and/or differences in regards to availability of materials for effective teaching and learning in the core sciences is suggested.
