ABSTRACT
This study ‘Counselling Students with Learning Disability: Challenge of Resource Management in School‘ in the 21st Century’, investigated the extent to which Counselling could promote the learning effectiveness of children living with learning disabilities in school-despite their learning impairment. A quasi-experimental research design was adopted in the study. The population of this study comprised all children with learning
disabilities, attending special education centres in Uyo at the secondary school level which was estimated at 213. A random sampling technique of this population gave a sample size of 100 respondents. Researchers’ Self Structured Questionnaire was used, ‘Effective Learning Resource Management Questionnaire’ (ELRMQ), was duly validated by experts which gave a reliability co-efficient value of 0. 75. Independent t-test statistical was used to analyse data collected from the respondents. Findings revealed that effective learning of students with learning disability in educational, vocational and personal-social counselling services were significant for the present and future life sustenance of the students with learning disability. It was recommended that more Counsellors should be employed by ministries of education and relevant state and federal non—governmental agencies. Private education centres can also be established to accommodate more students living with learning disabilities in. the society for better management of their disabilities. This, in no small measure would enhance effective management of school goals.
