Towards Educational Support: Library Services in the Era of Contemporary ICT Resources by Philip, Kathryn J. & Okon, Michael

$1.50

ABSTRACT
Libraries through the ages have variously been identified with supporting educational goals through the provision of specialized information to those in need of same. In the recent past, procedures leading to accomplishing this role have variously been remodeled to accommodate modern information and communication technologies (ICTs). Types commonly in use are accordingly highlighted in this paper while buttressing their capabilities in the management and circulation of these resources for effective educational and information services in the library. The implications and misgivings surrounding these developments as regards conventional library services have been discussed as well. This paper concludes that today’s libraries must necessarily be transformed to meet the 21th century learning and teaching needs which gradually have extended to virtual learning platforms.
